Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for people who need ongoing support with day-to-day tasks at home as part of a shared living arrangement. You do not need to understand the funding before you talk to us. We can work through the practical side and whether the home may be the right fit together.

What does SIL funding cover?
Supported Independent Living is NDIS funding for the disability-related support a person needs at home. In a shared living environment, that can include support with everyday tasks, building skills and supervision, with supports arranged around the household and each person’s needs.
Does the NDIS pay my rent, groceries and bills in a SIL home?
No. SIL funding does not pay ordinary day-to-day living costs such as rent, groceries or bills. Those practical details should be clear before any arrangement moves forward.
What is the difference between SIL and SDA?
SIL is the support a person receives at home. Specialist Disability Accommodation, or SDA, is specialised housing for people with very high support needs. Some people may have both, but one does not automatically mean the other.
Will I share Support Workers in a SIL home?
Shared support is common in a shared SIL home. The exact arrangement depends on the people in the household, their support needs and their NDIS plans, while each person keeps their own routines, choices and home life.
How do I find out whether the household could be right for me?
Start with a proper conversation. A home is shared with other people, routines and relationships, so we take time to understand the person, what home needs to feel like and whether the existing household and support environment could be a genuine fit.
