Short-Term Accommodation (STA) and Respite is an NDIS-funded support that provides temporary accommodation and support for participants β giving both the participant and their carers a well-deserved break.
At The Happiness Crew, we take respite to a whole new level. Instead of just a change of scenery, we plan genuine adventures β road trips, coastal getaways, national park explorations, and more. Our trips are participant-led, meaning we go where the crew wants to go.
We've travelled over 150,000 kilometres together across Western Australia, visiting destinations from Kalbarri to Esperance, Broome to Margaret River. Every trip is fully supported, fully planned, and fully unforgettable.

We've explored some of Western Australia's most beautiful destinations together β and we're not done yet.
We handle everything so participants and carers can relax and enjoy the experience.
Short Term Accommodation (STA) is an NDIS support that funds temporary accommodation and support away from your usual home. Most NDIS participants can access up to 28 days of STA per year. This can be used for respite trips, holidays, or short stays. Your Support Coordinator can help you confirm your STA funding and days available.
Respite care in WA is funded under NDIS Support Category 01 (Daily Activities) or Category 04 (Social Participation), depending on the type of support. Short Term Accommodation (STA) is a specific line item that covers accommodation and support costs during the trip. We can provide NDIS line item numbers and quotes to your Support Coordinator.
We run adventure trips across Western Australia and beyond β including Kalbarri, Margaret River, Rottnest Island, the Pinnacles, Esperance, Broome, Albany, Coral Bay, and the Perth Hills. Destinations are chosen based on participant interest and group preferences.
Our trips are designed to give participants a genuine break β and carers a rest too. Trips are staffed by our trained support workers. Family members are generally not included on group trips, but we can discuss individual arrangements for participants who require family support.
We recommend booking at least 4β6 weeks in advance to allow time for NDIS funding confirmation, service agreement setup, and trip planning. Popular trips like Rottnest Island and Margaret River fill up quickly, so early enquiry is encouraged.
