A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Happiness Crew Community

A New Year, A Growing Community — Our 2026 Message of Thanks

As we step into the New Year 2026, we want to begin this edition of The Happiness Crew News Journal with a heartfelt thank-you. To our clients, families, support workers, partners, and everyone who follows our journey — your trust and energy continue to shape the community we're so proud of.

The past year has been filled with moments that remind us why The Happiness Crew exists. We've watched people try new things, build friendships, discover new places, and grow in confidence. We've seen staff go above and beyond, supporting not just daily tasks but the goals, independence, and happiness of every person they walk beside.

"These aren't just activities — they're the heartbeat of our community."

Entering 2026, we carry all of this with us — the laughter from gaming days, the excitement of festivals and coastal outings, the calm of nature walks, and the joy of discovering new experiences as a group. These aren't just activities; they're the heartbeat of our community. They're where connection forms, where confidence grows, and where people feel safe to be themselves.

This new year brings a renewed sense of purpose. It invites us to keep strengthening what works, to dream bigger, and to continue creating a space where everyone feels valued, supported, and celebrated. Happiness, for us, is found in the small moments — a shared joke, a new achievement, a familiar routine done with good company.

As we open this new year together, we want to honour everyone who makes The Happiness Crew what it is. Thank you for your trust, your kindness, your stories, and your resilience. Here's to a year filled with growth, connection, and unforgettable moments.

— With gratitude, Shaun & Sam

One Place Available at Our SIL Home — A Warm Welcome Awaits!

As we step into 2026, we're excited to share that one place is now available in our Supported Independent Living (SIL) home — a space built around comfort, independence, and genuine connection. For the right person, this isn't just a room. It's a home where daily life feels meaningful, safe, and full of small moments that make a big difference.

Our SIL house has become one of the most vibrant corners of The Happiness Crew. It's a warm, modern space with bright bedrooms, cosy shared areas, and a calm, friendly atmosphere where people feel free to be themselves. The home is shaped by the people who live there — their routines, their interests, their goals — and supported by a team who genuinely care.

Life in the house is a blend of comfort and adventure. Mornings often begin with music, breakfast, and gentle conversation. Some head out for community activities, while others enjoy a slower start. Recent months have been filled with outings: gaming days at The Hub, Adventure World trips, Kings Park walks, and energetic Rebound sessions in Port Kennedy.

Our Last Few Months of Adventures — A Season of Growth, Joy & Community

40+ major outings · 1,500+ km travelled · Memories for a lifetime

January

We kicked off with Outback Splash, Whiteman Park & the Motor Museum, the Body Works Exhibition, and one of our biggest adventures — the Denmark & Albany Great Southern Road Trip. A multi-day journey filled with beaches, forests, wildlife, and the kind of bonding that only happens on the open road.

February

Our travellers headed off on the Margaret River & South West Escape — caves, forests, chocolate factories, and coastal lookouts. Back in Perth: the Titanic Exhibition, Lake Leschenaultia swimming, Swan Valley Animal Farm, Swans Pedal Boats at Point Walter, and fishing days along the Swan River.

March

Community spirit exploded. The Coogee LIVE Festival, a magical Dolphin Cruise & BBQ in Mandurah, the Pinnacles, Kings Park, the Mandurah Crab Fest, Caversham Wildlife Park, escape rooms, craft days, movies, and lawn bowls. A month that blended nature, culture, and pure fun.

"These weren't just events — they were achievements. Steps forward."

April — Our Biggest Month Yet

The Beverley Airshow, Pinjarra Races, Jurassic Kingdom at Burswood Park, the Fremantle International Street Festival, Lesmurdie Falls, Escape Hunt: Time Cops, the ANZAC Day Gunfire Breakfast & March in Perth CBD — and our crowning achievement: the Japan Cultural Journey, where clients experienced temples, food, culture, and international travel.

If The Happiness Crew has always been about connection — now, with the launch of our brand-new website, that connection is easier, clearer, and more accessible than ever. The new thehappinesscrew.com brings together everything our community needs in one beautifully designed space.

One of the standout features is the Events Calendar, which has already become a favourite among participants and families. Instead of scrolling through posts or waiting for updates, you can now browse every upcoming outing by month, category, or interest. Whether it's Happy Dayz, Venture Dayz, Crew Dayz, or Respite & Travel — each event includes the time, location, and a one-click booking button.

One of the biggest leaps forward is our Integrated Training System, now fully embedded into the website. Staff can log in, access modules, complete training, and stay up to date with best-practice standards — all from one secure portal.

Meet the Crew — Celebrating the People Who Make Happiness Happen

This year has already brought incredible growth to The Happiness Crew — not just in our programs and adventures, but in the amazing people who have joined our team. We're excited to welcome Jack, Barb, Sienna, Imogen, Michael, and Caoimbhe, who have stepped into 2026 with enthusiasm and heart.

Each of them brings something unique to our crew: warm personalities, strong values, and a commitment to person-centred care that aligns beautifully with what The Happiness Crew stands for. Whether they're supporting clients on community outings, helping build independence at home, or simply sharing a laugh during the day, they've already made a positive impact.

As we welcome new faces, we also continue to celebrate the dedication of the staff who have been walking this journey with us. Every month, we recognise one team member who has gone above and beyond — someone who has shown exceptional kindness, reliability, initiative, or leadership.

"Our Employee of the Month Award is more than a title — it's a moment to honour the people who make our community stronger."
January — Employee of the Month
Jessi

Jessi might be one of the newest faces in The Happiness Crew, but she's already shining like she's been here forever. Hard-working, compassionate, and laser-attentive to our clients, she brings pure good-vibes energy into every shift. Everyone loves her, and yes, her cat-lover spirit has officially become part of our crew culture.

February — Employee of the Month
Kaitlin

Kaity is the powerhouse at the centre of The Happiness Crew — the calm in the chaos, the organiser of miracles, and the legend who keeps everything running smoother. Thanks to her leadership, planning magic, and heart-first approach, our crew stays organised, supported, and always moving forward.

March — Employee of the Month
Lucas

Lucas has been with The Happiness Crew for years, drifting in like a poet and staying like family. A soft giant with a heart that never hesitates, he supports our clients with tenderness, patience, and the kind of compassion you can feel in the room. Quietly heroic, Lucas is the kind of person who reminds us why this work matters.

Our Collaboration with Charles Darwin University — Growing Our Crew, Growing Our Quality

One of the things that makes The Happiness Crew stand out is how much we invest in our team — not just with training, support, and good vibes, but with real opportunities to grow. This year, we added something pretty special: a collaboration with Charles Darwin University, giving our support workers access to extra learning, professional check-ins, and new tools.

Daisy was one of the first to step into this collaboration, and under our guidance, she adapted her university project into something incredibly valuable for the organisation. Together, we shaped her work into a practical review of where our support workers may benefit from deeper training. She explored mental-health awareness, de-escalation techniques, emotional-safety strategies, communication approaches, and the wellbeing needs of both clients and workers.

Her project became a real-world look at how we can continue improving the quality of our service while keeping our culture joyful, supportive, and easy to navigate.

At the end of her project, Daisy will produce a Support Worker Handbook — a friendly, clear, easy-to-use guide designed to help our team understand best practices, strengthen their confidence, and feel even more supported in their roles.

And that's exactly what The Happiness Crew is all about.
